Sir,

I have the honour to report that Dr. J. Bell, Superintendent of the Government Civil Hospital, has notified his intention of retiring on pension on the 10th. November next when he will attain the age of 55 years.

2.

I have to recommend that prior to his retire- -ment Dr. Bell should be granted three months' vacation leave to which in ordinary circumstances he is entitled. Vacation leave was given in similar circumstances to Mr. Tocker of the Public Works Department, as recorded in Mr. Severn's Despatch No. 158 of the

24th. April, 1912.
